Fundraiser for Autism Speaks
I have been thinking and praying about this, especially after a video that knittygirl sent to me about life with an adult with autism:
My voyages online tonight brought me to Autism Speaks. This site has some great resources, but there’s still not a lot out there for the adults with autism. I have signed up for their email list and hope to get updates biweekly. That being said, I want to give back. I want to help provide for more resources to be able to be produced for people with autism and families of people with autism. I want to help provide for more research into the causes of autism.
If any of my patterns are bought during the period of the Autism Awareness CAL/KAL (April 1 through June 30th), all the proceeds will be donated to Autism Speaks. I’m a nurse; I don’t need the money for myself. But in future not so far off, I and others like me may need the resources that Autism Speaks may provide to support family members with Autism.
Davina gives so much support to the producing of my patterns and loves the toys I make for her with an enthusiasm that touches my soul. Even if she never sees the direct results of the donation, perhaps others like her will.
